I spent a week in Charleston for a 5-day intensive training in Multi-Systemic Therapy. Every evening I had a chance to go downtown and have dinner with the group who was also attending the same training. Below is a typical building near Market Street, in downtown Charleston.

Coney Island

-->
"Coney Island is a peninsula and beach on the Atlantic Ocean in southern Brooklyn, New York, United States. The site was formerly an island, but became partially connected to the mainland by landfill. Coney Island is possibly best known as the site of amusement parks and a major resort that reached their peak during the first half of the 20th century."

There was a hurricane, really?

Hurricane Irene was almost unnoticed in Midtown, Manhattan. Some rain and flooding, wind, something like fog early this morning and... that's it!
The images we see on TV don't match what we've experienced. Except for the empty streets, which is really surreal.
It looks like the city that never sleeps, slept last night!
